Yes, I know that we have the shippings promotions on the front page but surely more than one ship a month deserves a shout-out! So, I created this page.

So, you support a particular pairing. Maybe even more than one! But are you tired of the constant bashing that you are sad to see your OTP go through? Do you have a special theory as to why they think that they might work? Or do you simply want to shout out about how great it is?

Angstshipping (Malik x Ryou)

Oddly enough, this has become my favourite of the Marik/Bakura couples. Although there isn't as much evidence for it as there is for some of the others it would seem they'd have a very stable relationship and Sam likes that in fictional couples. Aside from looking cute together there's possibly two hints for this couple, the most obvious one being when Marik was carrying the injured Ryou back to his friends (Well okay, that was part of Marik and Bakura's plot so I'm not entirely sure if it counts o.o ) and the other one is from the Manga and often gets overlooked. When Marik first arrived in Domino city Ryou sensed his presence when no one else did. After that Bakura took over to track Marik down but it was still Ryou who sensed him in the first place. Possibly they have some kind of connection, more likely it was because they're both Sennen item holders but if that was the case Yugi should have sensed Marik as well. o.o It's something to think about anyway. After Battle City was over Marik made it very clear that he wanted to move on from his evil ways and out of the good guys I think Ryou would be most likely to helps him do that. THe reason being that Ryou isn't perminantly attached to Yugi's group of friends, being around them a lot may make Marik feel uncomfortable at least until he gets to know them better, so Ryou would be able to spend time with him away from the others when he likes. Also they've both been through the similar experience of having a darker spirit inside of them ruining their lives so they'd be able to relate to one another and possibly even find comfort from a situation that not many others would understand (Well... except possibly the kid with the blue hair and glasses from DNAngel who hosts Krad. Forgive my n00bism, I've only seen the first few episodes and his name slips my mind). Overall a couple that could work out after the series has ended, at least in my eyes.

Aptshipping (Hiroto x Isis)

To be honest I'd never seriously considered this pairing until by chance I had these two battle against each other in the "Falsebound Kingdom" game, but then it got me thinking, why not? Isis is a very mysterious character, so she often gets paired with other mysterious characters. While Honda ia a very normal character, meaning he often gets paired up with other normal characters. Both of those notions make sense, but what happens if you want to mix mysterious with normal? Well Honda being the definition of normal and Isis being the definition of mysterious this could be a good couple to choose. If you think about it Isis has spent her whole life surrounded by magic and mystery, and she doesn't really seem very happy. So perhaps that kind of stuff really doesn't appeal to her (Since she sees so much of it) and the idea of being with an average guy could appeal to her (Since she doesn't see much of average ). Given that Honda's a nice guy he would probably get along fine with her, and would definitely be willing to give her a chance romantically so it could form a stable relationship.

Ardentshipping (Hiroto x Shizuka)

This was the second YGO couple I got into after Battle City started showing in England. The idea of Joey's best friend having a crush on Joey's sister was just adorable, and Joey hating it made it seem even more appealing. I think if Duke hadn't gotten involved these two would almost definitely have got together, if Serenity realised Tristan had feelings for her she'd be more then willing to give him a chance. But even with the love triangle in place all three of the couples in that triangle were quite possible. I believe that out of the two guys who liked her Honda was the one who generally cared for her well being while Otogi seemed to like her because she was cute (Which doesn't mean I don't think Otogi/Shizuka would work but I'll get to my reasons for liking that couple in a later paragraph). I'll not pretend Honda didn't like her because she was cute to start with, he did seem to want to spend time with her at the beginning of Battle City for that reason. But over time that crush seemed to develop into genuine care. The evidence is there, when the Rare Hunters attacked them it was Honda who stayed to fight them off, when Shizuka was being chased by a wild beast it was Honda who tried to fight that beast to save her, and when the three of them were dueling that Big 5 member (His name slips my mind right now) Honda was the one who sacrificed himself to what at the time seemed like certain death to save her. After that I think Shizuka realised how much Honda meant to her. Before that she was obvilious to his crush and seemed to lean more towards Otogi, but when she thought Honda was dead she collapsed to the floor in tears for a long time. After they find the robot monkey Honda its generally Shizuka and Otogi who spend the most time with him, maybe because they feel guilty, who knows. But either way I think this is one of the four most likely couples involving Shizuka and deserves more love then it gets.

Arrogantshipping (Seto x Mai)

I'd be the first to say this couple has no chance of becoming official, and I didn't even consider it before coming across a club for it, but when I did I just instantly liked it. The main aspect of the relationship is how similar they are to each other, both are characters of high standards who help the heroes out on occassions but for the most part like to remain seperate from them. Its surprising that these similarities didn't make it easy for them to get along in the series, but then again we never really saw Kaiba and Mai interact at any point (To my memory) except when Kaiba wanted to see if Mai had the ability to use Ra on the Battle Ship. But if they had I think there could have been sparks. Even if they only dated to make other characters jealous they may enjoy each others company (Then again, this is Kaiba I'm talking about... ). If it did work out into a relationship they wouldn't be good for each other and would probably end up going back down the wrong track again but overall it probably would work. On one website I heard a comment saying you could see them getting married and having these intelligent, evil, rich, goodlooking children and sending them to the most posh school in the land. Personally I could see that happening.

Azureshipping (Seto x Anzu)

This is a couple that I both like and hate at the same time. First of all the reasons I hate it are OOC portrayals of the pairing in bad fanfiction. I'm far from a fan of these many fanfics where Mokuba sets up Kaiba and Anzu on a date only for them both to end up falling in love and acting all mushy with each other. To me this doesn't fit either of their characters. But I do feel that you can make this pairing work well while keeping them both in character, it's just a little difficult. ^^ Although a lot of people don't notice it both Kaiba and Anzu have very headstrong personalities and views on life, and since their views mostly clash their relationship clashes as well, which makes it interesting to watch. The biggest piece of evidence in this area being during Duelist Kingdom where Anzu tells Kaiba off before he enters the castle. I believe this is possibly the fuel that started most of the Anzu bashing, but even if I didn't like her myself back then I did feel Kaiba deserved those words and that the scene was one of the most powerful in the series. After that we don't see much interaction between them but it's safe to assume Anzu isn't fond of Kaiba and Kaiba sees Anzu as being another one of Yugi's dork gang. But that does give fans of the pairing something to work from. The clashes can lead to fights, which leads to hatred, which leads to love. But at the same time the love never stops being hatred, which is important to keep in mind to pull this pairing off correctly.

Babbleshipping (Katsuya x Kisara)

I'm not a fan of these "Kisara gets reincarnated" fanfics, but there is a common tend that exists within them. She always ends up being paired with the same character due to her relationship with his past life. This got me questionning if Kisara really was reincarnated would she really fall for the character everyone expects her too? Or would another character appeal to her more? Oddly enough Jounouchi was the one I thought would appeal to her. The reason being that she has quite a depressive personality. In real life I often see people with depressive personalities working out well in relationships with people who have cheerful personalities. And you don't get much more cheerful then Jounouchi. His positive outlook on life would probably appeal to her, and I could imagine that due to her similarities to his sister in terms of personality he'd naturally have an urge to be protective of her. Sure, it's a pairing that has no chance of becoming canon, but then again most pairings involving Kisara being put with a modern day character don't. And it would make an interesting plot to break away from the normal trend in these kind of fanfics.

Bittershipping (Pegasus x Hiroto)

Although I had considered this pairing before I'd never seriously thought about it very much until it came up in a conversation. Again, no evidence to back it up and like most of the gang Honda seems to dislike Pegasus but there's something about putting Pegasus with random characters that amuses me. Mostly their reaction to him. XD And you could imagine how freaked out Honda would be if Pegasus started hitting on him. Outside of that I think Pegasus would like Honda's "try to be a tough guy" attitude (Or at least find it enertaining) and that what I think would possibly draw him to Honda. That and I just have a very weird view of "sexy". And yes, I do happen to think this pairing falls under that catergory. XP

Blessedshipping (Priest Mahaado x Shizuka)

Though I'm not a strong fan of this pairing I can certainly understand why it works and for a few reasons it slightly appeals to me. Shizuka is a character who I generally (With some exceptions) like to pairing with characters who are kind, caring and would respect her. And I think Mahaado would fall under those categories quite well. If there ever was a situation where either the time zones crossed or if Shizuka did have an ancient Egyptian past life (Though that's clearly more of a fanfic thing) these two would possibly get along really well. Considering his interactions with Priestess Isis I think Mahaado enjoys the company of sweet girls and may even suffer from the "protective vibes" that most people who meet Shizuka seem to get towards her because of how innocent she is. On Shizuka's part I think she'd like a guy who would give her respect but not fight over her. If anything the man who steps back from the fight may be the one more likely to win her heart. If these two ever did get into a relationship I could see a very peaceful relationship, but problems could arise due to Mahaado's dedication to his job. Though that's a factor that affects most pairings involving him, not just this one.

Bronzeshipping (Yami no Malik x Malik)

This has to my favorite shipping. Many people I have met say that a relationship between Malik and Marik (Yami Marik) would not work, because of Marik dislike of his hikari, and that self-interest won’t work. But still I like to believe that in Marik’s cold heart that he some what likes his light, and that he could learn to love his other even if he has to learn how to. Even if Malik didn’t show it, he must have been sad when Marik was sent to the Shadow Realm; I mean Marik was still a part of Malik and that may effect Malik. If Marik ever did find a way out of the Shadow Realm, he would probably go and try to find Malik. They may possibly could have a good relationship together or not. But no matter what they both complete each other. Malik may be afraid of telling Marik how he feels about him. While Marik may be to stubborn to tell his feelings for his other. Their perfect for each other. They both are psycho. And yet at the same time they show the unseen side of the other. Both of them have tan skin, thus the giving them the title of Bronzeshipping.

This is the only Yami/Hikari pairing that hasn't been spoiled for me by rabid fans. Although Malik was far from interested in a relationship with his dark half I could quite easily see Yami Malik being attracted to him. And if Yami Malik is attracted to someone he makes it known. XP The chemistry between the two of them can be interesting at times, if written correctly. Even though Yami Malik could be forceful with him, Malik is more then capable to fight back against him, so a romance would be fair on him and not dominantly onesided. Definitely a love/hate relationship. ^^

Clashshipping (Yami no Malik x Yami no Yuugi)

Clashshipping is quite possibly the most neglected of the yami couples, more than likely due to the fact it is one of the most unlikely pairings to spawn from the canon. But that’s why the fandom exists, to twist even the most subtle of possibilities into a wonderfully delightful slew of theories. Yami no Yuugi is the regal beacon of darkness that clings to the light as dutifully as any 3,000 year old, amnesia-ridden half of a soul should. But one must not forget the early series debut of our favorite Pharaoh. YnYuugi was as much a psychotic blot of dementia as any yami should be proud to be. Throughout the series we witness YnYuugi’s restraint strengthen until a settling level of normalcy is reached. That is… At least until he’s tempted. We all know the scenes in which he gives in to the darker emotions bubbling within, so it is fair to say YnYuugi is as brilliant as he is broken, swallowed up in denial as he refuses to see himself in the darker light he has been cast in by fate. Which is why he needs a little help, if not blatant provoking, to release his true nature. Yami no Malik’s persona is as clear as it is disturbing. He is the embodiment of nothing less than festered hate and cruel loathing. Left to his own devices, YnMalik would love nothing more than to shatter the earth and grind the pieces down the Pharaoh’s throat with his fist. Then again, torturing YnYuugi could be much more fulfilling. And what better way to torment the one he detests above all others than by tearing away at the Pharaoh’s mind, breaking off the false pieces of kindness and smudged light YnYuugi has wrapped himself in until the Pharaoh is forced to look upon himself and acknowledge the glaring fact that he is just as knotted up in shadows and blissful torment as YnMalik. Although, between having his mind hacked to its raw form and struggling to maintain what bits of humanity he has gained, YnYuugi would lash back as dutifully as he is prone to. In the end, whether it be a form of counterbalancing or not, YnMalik and YnYuugi would be forced to listen to one another. Taking away at least a sliver of what the other preaches, and in some cynical turn of events the two would gain an understanding, if not respect, for each other. A mock bond at first, what they develop would have to furl out into something much deeper, a connection that roots it self to the pits of what allows for their existence. Like shadows that bleed out when the sun sets, the darkness eventually has to meet and embrace itself if it is expected to withstand the night, and so YnMalik and YnYuugi by such deduction would find a foreign comfort and attraction to each other, admittedly sinister in every form. There is no shaky line between love and hate, there’s a barricade ten-thousand strong. No one’s ever said love is simple, or sane for that matter, so what better way to express the complexity and utter madness of romance than by paying homage to love’s impossibilities? Clashshipping is so named for a reason after all, but who ever said the ‘clash’ couldn’t turn pleasurable?


Crypticshipping (Shadi X Rishid)

Well, there’s something to be said for some characters just not getting enough attention, and Shadi and Rishid are pretty high up there on the list considering their important involvement within the series. These two strike me as going well together because of their similarities in personality, despite how we actually know very little about Shadi’s background. They’re both sombre and serious, and as a pairing not entirely unbelievable as there’s plenty of chances through Battle City to meet, as well as before and after. They’re also bishie-material, I might add (Although I suppose it depends on your tastes) and Shadi’s mysteriousness will be attractive to some writers who would enjoy creating a history for him. Also, aesthetically as a pairing they’re highly attractive with Egyptian features and tan skin, and the fact that Rishid is so much taller creates a clear and adorable seme/uke relationship that some authors may have fun playing off of. This pairing definitely needs more attention and more advertising to win through all the already popular pairings out there.

Deathshipping (Yami no Bakura x Yami no Yuugi)

Though Marik and Ryou have absolutely no contact at all during the show (as far as I know), this is quite a popular pairing. When I first saw it, I was a bit iffy. A completely insane psycho with a cute little British boy? Yeah…it was weird. But then again, you never know what could have happened between them when they weren’t seen (or in Ryou’s case, mentioned) in the Battle City episodes. I’ve read a few fics that followed that. One is called ‘Never Knew’ that is a must-read for MarikxRyou fans. Anyway, when you think about it, Ryou’s innocence could possibly help tone down Marik’s psychotic, sociopath mind into a more open, down-to-Earth one. There are no where near as many hints to this pairing as there are to the other Ryou/BakuraxMalik/Marik couples. I think this pairing would fit under the ‘Screw the existence of hints!’ category ‘cause 1) that’s pretty much what a lot of the YGO pairings are, right?, and 2) it's true.

Intentshipping (Yami no Bakura/Mokuba)

Is there a hint of this pairing...not to the naked eye I don't think. You'd have to *really* squint to see it. In Duelist Kingdom (we remember that part of the YGO series because I'd say that's where the most angst was ) Mokuba had his soul taken by our fun-loving Pegasus and Y.Bakura sees this as an opportunity to have a body! YAY! However that never happened because Honda was Mister Savior and tossed the Sennen Ring away. (too bad that didn't work but nice try!). But of course that wouldn't stop our dear Y. Bakura to torturing dear little Mokuba AGAIN during Dawn of the Duel by taking his soul (I think that's what happened the dubs are so stupid) in order to "persuade" Seto into going to Cairo for the whole "I must stop the Pharaoh from regaining his memories and unleash the most purest of evils!!" plan of his. Now could this be interest between our dark spirit and Seto's only cheerleader or does Y. Bakura just take pleasure in other people's pain and Mokuba's just an easy target? Well, we don't know for sure but that still doesn't mean these two wouldn't make the...Odd Couple.

Prideshippung (Seto x Yami no Yuugi)

Prideshipping is the most popular pairing in Japan. Whilst in America, it is listed in the top ten’s list. Who would have thought these two pairing, Kaiba and Yami Yuugi, would have actually work out? For the normal human eye, Seto Kaiba and Yami Yuugi are registered as “just rivals” in the head. But for us Boy’s love fangirls, it is true love at first sight! This pair was first discovered in Season 0 of “YuGiOu A Shadow’s Game” (which was only aired in Japan, and a must see!) when Seto Kaiba claims he must see the “other side of Yuugi” again, after a “Shadow Game” he had with Yami Yuugi, which ends in a draw. He kidnapped Yuugi Mutou and forces Yami Yuugi to come out to play another “game” with one of the 4 Game Masters. Isn’t that enough to trigger a fangirl's heart? Although in America Season 0 of YuGiOu was not release, a similar path grows in our U.S Fangirl’s heart similar to Season Zero’s. In YuGiOu Duel Monsters, also known as Season 1, Kaiba had lost to the “Other Yuugi” in a regular duel monsters game, [probably due the lecture of “heart of the cards” (again) see Season 0.] And Since then He has tried so many ways of getting Yami Yuugi’s attention! And yet again you also see this happening in YUGIOU the Movie, where he stole not only 1 card from Pegasus, but 2 cards (although that second one didn’t really count, but then again he didn’t really steal it) from Pegasus to just have a duel with Yami Yuugi. See the angst? Another thing that has it going in this pairing is, well you’ve guessed it, their “RIDE”! You don’t know how many times these two bicker among each other about pride and joy! They’re like an old (or young) married couple bickering back and fourth, on whose and right and wrong! Now speaking of the roles of Uke and Seme! They can argue on that all night long! *chuckles excuse the pun* Not only that! Just look at them! Yami Yuugi has friends! And Kaiba is a loner! Kaiba hates it when Yami talks about his friends, and Yami hates Kaiba when he says he doesn’t care. Isn’t that something we all love to relate too! It just makes it much more fun for us fangirls to talk about! Hooray for a topic! Another thing that we fangirls have it for these two is that, as the seasons go further, both of their “rival” roles extends their history. (And scenes being together too X3). Who in the world don’t like intertwined love? Star –crossed lovers like Romeo and Juliet! As they say! These two hotties were meant to be together! Now! When you run across this pairing next time, consider taking a look at it, you’ll never know what kind of lovely historical events you might find connected to them! After all it totally so does deserves to be Japan’s Top and U.S Top 10’s list! Hooray for everyday life events & love!


Puppyshipping (Seto x Katsuya)

This is an especially popular Yuugiou fandom within the shounen-ai genre of shippings; and in several ways, can easily come across to be bizarre whilst nearly canon at the same time. Even suggesting the attraction between the two displayed within the series could be even remotely feasible is really what keeps this pairing alive, the fact that it's so unlikely to a point that love and hate boils considerably where the cycle meets in full circle and inevitably bubbles into lust or, more far-fetchedly, romance. Puppyshipping is one of the fandoms that really justifies the not uncommon phrase, "Opposites attract." And just the same, even as it applies to physics, it can apply to love as well. If a partnership consists of two whom share common interests, it can expectedly take its path smoothly, however, if the two share strikingly similar personalities, whether it be more positive or negative, the two would easily repel because no indication of balance would be evident in the companionship and that alone would be the bane of its existence.
Given that Jou and Kaiba share some traits, such as stubborness, the pair hold their keep to that quality in their personalities for two significantly different reasons. The both of them have also undergone particularly traumatizing childhoods, unifying the two in the vein of their empathy for one another. However, one could easily debate against them in the same matter via mentioning the fact the two are especially stoic (even if one displays such behavior through comic-relief and the other through pure sobriety) and unlikely to opening up and freely discussing their dilemmas, as does mostly happen with most males; which is the chief stalemate to the relationship, due to the fact that if couples can't open up, no romance tends to occur other than the non-intimate sexual expression, or well-known lust. Each character has their own instabilities, and for that reason, I think the two could use their weaknesses and strengths to their personal advantages in leaning on the other at the given time, while the latter does the same, making for an initially shaky but inevitably steady relationship. In conclusion, as Christmas Eve of Avenue Q says, "The more you ruv someone, the more you want to kill them / Loving and killing fit like hand in glove." ^_~

Pegasus x Dartz x Siegfried

These three go together in so many ways it’s almost ludicrous how few people actually support them. First, all three wear the worst pimp suits ever created. Now I don’t mean this in a bashing way, but c’mon, it’s true. You look at them, Pegasus in his red ensemble with the white shoes, Dartz with his purple one that clashes so awfully with his teal hair and Siegfried with the pink think going on, their dress-sense is awful! But you can see them all stating quite adamantly that they like it and wont change, right? They go together well secondly because were they ever to meet, which if you stretch your imagination a little might happen, you can see an immediate attraction between the guys, all three acting far too camp to be entirely straight. I’d like to say that they all HAVE to be of the gaysion persuasion, but then we mustn’t forget both Pegasus and Dartz’s former wives. Still, pretty as they are, and with a hilarious arrogance fitting the villains they are it’s pretty difficult to imagine them NOT getting on like a house on fire. And the third reason they go together so well is pretty darn obvious: they’re so pretty! Tall, slim, and long hair, I don’t know about you, but this does it for me, especially since their hair colours and styles are so different from each other’s that they create a gorgeous contrast. So please, give this threesome a though, their enthusiasm is set to create amusing writing and drawing, whilst the sadness in their pasts is a good start for those of you who like some angst. Give them a chance, they’d no doubt tell you themselves that they’re well worth the effort.
